Aku-Aku is a floating wooden mask and is the father figure to Crash and Coco in the game series. Aku Aku was a witchdoctor who was sealed inside a wooden mask years ago. Aku Aku joins up with Crash in the first installment of the game to help stop Doctor Neo Cortex from taking over the world and gaining all the Crystals. He scatters copies of himself all over the world to help crash in his mission.

In-game when Crash obtains Aku Aku he basically gains a "free man". Without an Aku Aku one hit to Crash kills him instantly. When three Aku Aku masks are collected Crash become unstoppable and can destroy anything that get's in his way for a temporary amount of time. The masks aren't that common and you cannot hold more than three at one time.
