[edit] Plot

Cortex Castle.
The Evolvo Ray is a monstrous machine created by Doctor Nitrus Brio, an assistant working alongside with evil scientist Doctor Neo Cortex. The machine evolves innocent animal into beasts with incredible strength. A large amount of energy is required to power it, and an incredible amount of pollution is produced as a result. Crash Bandicoot and Tawna are two of their careless experiments. The Evolvo Ray was a success on both Bandicoot's. Crash was then put into the Cortex Vortex, a machine that puts anything under their control. This experiment however was a failure. He escapes the castle by falling from a window and wakes up on N. Sanity Beach. Crash has decided that he will journey to Cortex Castle to save Tawna, stop the pollution and defeat Cortex.

[edit] Gameplay

The gameplay in Crash Bandicoot is the most simplistic in the series when compared to Cortex Strikes Back and Warped!. Crash can only run, spin (which can be done with both the square and circle buttons), and jump

[edit] Bonus Rounds

The first Crash Bandicoot was also the first to feature bonus rounds. The player would have to collect three 'tokens' in order to access these. There were three different types of bonus round:

  • Tawna - Upon completion, the player could save the game (or given a password).
  • N. Brio - Though most likely the hardest type of bonus round, the player got nothing upon completion (apart from what they had picked up during the bonus round).
  • Cortex - Cortex bonus rounds were only in two levels, and upon completion gave the player a key to access one of the hidden levels.

[edit] Download

Crash Bandicoot has been available to download from the Playstation Store since 22nd June, 2007 (Europe). It had to be removed briefly due to a glitch.
