Tawna was a character who first appeared in Crash Bandicoot. She was Crash's girlfriend and one of Cortex's creations.

Saving Tawna was Crash's main goal in the original game. After failing to brainwash Crash and seeing him escape, Cortex ordered that Tawna be brainwashed. Tawna also appeared in bonus stages of the game. Crash returned to the castle and battled with Cortex to save Tawna. They escaped aboard Cortex's airship.

After the events of the first game, Tawna disappeared from the story. The backstory was that she had between the two games left Crash for Pinstripe. She was removed because it was felt that her exaggurated figure was unsuitable.

She returned in the spin-off Crash Boom Bang!.

Tawna has a brief cameo appearance in Crash Twinsanity. She appears on the sign of the Moulin Cortex in the stage "Slip Slide Icecapades". This is apparently a reference to her figure in the original game being considered too sexualised.
